London Heathrow Airport is the busiest in the world as millions and millions of people pour in each year to visit the cities of the United Kingdom. And why wouldn’t they? Situated centrally west of Europe, the UK is a hub of social, economic and cultural activity, with a lot to offer everyone, no matter your tastes or interests.

Some background on the Country

The United Kingdom is actually four countries - England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with a population of over 60 million people. Each is divided into smaller ’County’ areas. Many have their own culture and identity going back over hundreds of years.

You’ll find an amazing amount of history across he UK- from Stonehenge to the historic town of York and Edinburgh Castle. There is no shortage of galleries, museums, and ancient buildings to visit no matter where you find yourself living.

The UK is also known for its Arts and Culture, with people such as Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and more recently, Harry Potter all coming from the UK.

If restaurants, theatres and nightclubs are on your list - then major cities such as London, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh are must visit places.

Out of the major cities you will see the other side of the UK - from the West Country and its beautiful small villages with thatched roof cottages, to the Lakes District and the low hills of East Anglia.

With so much to see it is lucky that getting around the UK is an easy thing to do whether it be by car, bus, train or plane. The whole of the UK fits in to an area about the size of the state of Victoria in Australia so you should have the chance to visit every corner when you are there.
